Funds to show
- Living funds
- €800 a month for 12 months (€9,600)
- Basis
- Migri requires at least EUR 800 per month for living costs. If your studies take one year or longer, you must have EUR 9,600 in your bank account when you submit the application.
- Tuition included
- No, add your first year tuition
If you have not yet paid tuition, the account must also hold the first year's tuition on top of the EUR 9,600, and living funds cannot be used to pay tuition. A grant for living costs reduces the amount. If the school gives free housing the minimum is EUR 400 a month, or EUR 270 with free housing and meals. You cannot use a job to meet the requirement for a first permit.
Calculate your total with tuition and dependantsTimeline
- Typical decision time
- Migri publishes expected processing times on its processing time page, so check it for the current estimate. Appointment availability at the Abuja VFS centre also affects your timeline.
- How early you can apply
- Apply as soon as you receive your letter of acceptance and have paid tuition or set aside the funds for it.
- Latest sensible time to apply
- Apply at least three months before your studies start and book the VFS appointment early, because summer slots fill quickly.

- Tuition was unpaid and the account did not cover both tuition and living costs.
- The insurance did not meet Migri's cover or excess limits.
- The applicant tried to count future work income toward the first permit.
