Deadline

Two steps. University Admissions opens mid October and closes mid January (2026 round: 16 October 2025 to 15 January 2026). The SI portal then opens for two weeks in February (2026 round: 9 to 25 February 2026, closing 14:59 CET). The 2027 round dates were not yet confirmed on 17 October 2026.

Deadlines move a little every year and some close early. Confirm the date on the official page before you plan around it.

Documents you will need

  • University Admissions application and proof of admission
  • Passport copy
  • CV
  • Proof of work experience (3,000 hours) and employer references

How to apply, step by step

  1. Step 1: Find an eligible programme

SI publishes its list of eligible English-taught master's programmes on its scholarship page around mid November.
  2. Step 2: Apply to universityadmissions.se

Apply to up to the allowed number of programmes and pay the application fee, which SI does not cover.
  3. Step 3: Apply to SI

Submit the SI scholarship application in the SI portal during the two-week February window, with your work and leadership evidence.
  4. Step 4: Admissions results

Check University Admissions in late March. You can only be awarded for a programme you are admitted to on the first admissions day.
  5. Step 5: Accept the offer

If selected, you get an email offer in April and must accept by the stated deadline (30 May in the 2026 round).

Conditions if you accept

  • The scholarship covers only the awarded programme. Changes or extensions are not allowed.
  • SI does not pay insurance or extra grants for family members.
  • You must arrange leave from your employer in time. SI will not intervene.

Tips for a stronger application

  • Start counting your 3,000 work hours now and get letters that state your hours, as African applicants are screened on this.
  • Write down real leadership examples with outcomes, because leadership experience is a core selection criterion.
  • The February SI portal window is only two weeks, so prepare answers while your university application is still open.
  • Treat 2026 dates as a guide until SI publishes the 2027 round.
