Lund University Global Scholarship

Covers part or all of the tuition fee; the percentage depends on the programme or faculty budget. Lund awards about SEK 26 million in total each year. Living costs are not covered.

Open to most nationalities

• Citizen of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland who must pay tuition fees
• Applying in the regular round for master's studies (bachelor's only for Development Studies, Mathematics, Physics or Physical Geography)
• A Lund University programme ranked first on universityadmissions.se
• Meets the programme admission requirements
• Able to fund living costs as the Swedish Migration Agency requires

The scholarship portal usually opens in early February. In the 2026 cycle the deadline was 16 February 2026. Confirm the 2027 dates on the official page; you must also meet the universityadmissions.se deadline for the programme in January.

Deadlines move a little every year and some close early. Confirm the date on the official page before you plan around it.

• Complete application on universityadmissions.se with Lund as first choice
• Paid application fee and all admission documents
• Scholarship Motivation Letter of no more than 600 words, separate from your statement of purpose
• Separate scholarship application through Lund's scholarship portal

   Step 1: Apply to the programme

   Apply on universityadmissions.se during the application round with a Lund programme as your first choice, and pay the fee.

   Step 2: Complete your documents

   Make sure all admission documents are uploaded, since your academic record comes from that application.

   Step 3: Apply in the scholarship portal

   When the round opens in early February, use the portal link on Lund's page and upload a motivation letter of up to 600 words.

   Step 4: Accept and pay on time

   If selected, accept the award, accept your place and pay the remaining tuition by the date in the offer email.

• Covers tuition only; you must prove funds for living costs
• Only one Lund Global Scholarship application per round
• Award is deducted from your tuition invoice and must be accepted within the stated timeframe
• Merit-based only; financial need is not considered

• Put Lund first on universityadmissions.se; a second-choice Lund programme cannot get this scholarship.
• You may also apply for Swedish Institute scholarships in the same year.
• Write the 600-word letter about your academic record and fit with the programme, not about financial need.
• Budget for living costs: the Swedish Migration Agency still requires proof of funds.
