How it works

  1. Describe your course

Choose one of 30 destinations, your level, the course length and the kind of city. Tuition starts at the typical figure, and you can type your school's own fee.

  2. Add how you will live and earn

Pick your accommodation, lifestyle and family. Add a scholarship and part-time hours, which we cap at the legal limit for students in that country.

  3. Compare and share

See lean, typical and comfortable totals side by side, a year by year table, the funding gap and the funds the visa asks for. Print it or send it on WhatsApp.

Questions people ask

Where do the figures come from?

Visa fees and visa funds come from our visa guides, checked against the official immigration sites. Work limits come from each immigration authority. Tuition, rent and living ranges come from government study portals where they publish them, otherwise they are typical ranges. Every result lists its sources and the date we checked them.

Why are there three totals?

Rent and living costs vary a lot with how you live. Lean uses the low end of each typical range, typical uses the middle and comfortable the high end. Tuition and visa fees stay the same in all three.

Can part-time work pay for my studies?

Rarely in full. The simulator counts only the hours the law allows in term time and 30 weeks of work in the first year. Shifts are not guaranteed, and visa officers do not accept expected earnings as proof of funds.

Why is the visa funds figure different from the real cost?

The visa amount is a minimum you must be able to show, set by the immigration authority. The real cost depends on your city, school and lifestyle, and is often higher. Plan for the higher of the two.

Which exchange rate does it use?

An indicative rate from the Central Bank of Nigeria, crossed with European Central Bank rates for other currencies, with the date shown. Banks and exchange bureaus charge more, so type the rate you are offered.

Is my information stored?

No. The simulator runs in your browser. We count only anonymous choices such as the destination, never your name or figures you type.
